THREAD PATTERNS & STYLES

Fitting new Golf Spikes has many benefits to your game and performance but choosing the correct thread pattern to match your shoes is a vital part of making this straight forward task as simple as possible.  The receptacle, brand of golf shoes and existing thread pattern fitted into you shoe will all play a part in choosing the correct spikes for you.  Many shoe manufacturers tend to keep to one thread design and choice of golf spike, however golf shoes of a certain age may have a used a different thread pattern in prior years so be sure to check this prior to making your purchase.  You can also choose between the style and colour of golf spikes that match you personal preferences.

The guide below will help you establish which thread pattern best suit your requirements.  The guide shows the type of receptacles fitted to the sole of the shoes and also the type of thread pattern on the spike that is most commonly used by the manufacturer.

Please note if you are unsure, a simple email with a picture attached for us to verify which thread pattern best suits your shoes is all it takes.  One of our experts will respond to you within 48hrs.  Please prove a picture of the thread and a contact number to ensure a speedy response.

Insert Systems refers to the type of receptacle found on the bottom of your shoe. The Insert System determines the type of cleat that will fit your shoe. Different manufacturers use different types of receptacles, so it’s important to be able to match the right cleat to the right Insert System.

Currently, there are 9 different branded receptacles on the market, with several being cross- or backward-compatible. The guide below shows the difference between each system. Once you’ve identified the type of receptacle on your shoe, use our Cleat Replacement Guide to find the cleats that you need.
